Students' fundraising gig supports the Hayley HigginsonTrust

Categories: Press Releases

The audience for ‘Hairship Enterprise’ visit 4 different planets during the show, each with its own distinct musical style ranging from from reggae to rock. The show includes a range of special effects, including lighting and smoke - to help ensure that members of the audience feel they are actually travelling on ‘Hairship Enterprise’. Two of the songs will be performed by mini rock bands from Charlton Rock School which has members from local primary schools.

Jo Adlington, Course Leader commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see young musicians in Telford and to support an important charity at the same time. We are extremely proud to be supporting the Hayley Higginson Trust. Hayley really wanted to come to come to New College for the Level 2 Diploma Music course but was unable to do so because of her illness. Our best wishes go out to her family and all of those being supported by this great charity.”

Jo Adlington continued: “The course develops confidence and self-esteem, puts students firmly on the learning curve and encourages them to achieve their musical performance goals. The standard is extremely high this year, and I’m very proud of what they have achieved.”

The Hayley Higginson Trust has been set up to serve children with cancer in Shropshire, Powys and the West Midlands and aims to provide:

· Advice and guidance to the families of young cancer patients

· Specialist hair systems to children suffering hair loss due to chemotherapy treatment
