NEW COLLEGE STUDENTS celebrate best ever A Level Results
Over 1200 students are today receiving A Level and AS results at New College Telford, the largest provider of general advanced education in the local area. At A2, a record 98% achieved A level passes, with a third receiving the highest A*-B grades. The proportion of A*-C grades is also high at over 60%.
Congratulations New College Principal, Graham Clark, comments, “These are excellent results in a year where students have been taking the new, more demanding A Level qualifications for the first time. There are some outstanding individual results, and many New College students have secured their first choice university places in a particularly competitive environment. These results reflect the skills and talents of our students and are a culmination of much hard work and determination, together with a lot of support from family and friends. Congratulations to everyone concerned.” A Levels The highest ever number of candidates, 504, entered examinations in 39 different subjects. A 100% pass rate was achieved in an impressive 27 of these.

Individual Achievements
There are many excellent individual achievements from students who have accepted places at some of the country’s most successful universities, including Warwick, Birmingham, Sheffield, Oxford, London School of Economics and Loughborough. They will be studying subjects that include Physics, History, Law, Egyptology, History, Accounting and Finance. A significant minority of students have also secured employment with good career prospects. AS, BTEC, Vocational Options Many other New College students have achieved very good results in AS and BTEC examinations.
The college is celebrating a 98% pass rate in National Diplomas and 100% in First Diplomas, with two thirds of students receiving high grades (distinctions) in the National Diploma Design Crafts, National Award Dance, National Award Outdoor Education and First Diplomas Performing Arts and Science.
Help for those who need it New College has been in operation since 6.30 am this morning and is open tonight until 7.30 pm. Any student who is not sure of their next step, or who simply need to speak to someone about their choices can come along to this special evening session, or to any of our impartial advice and guidance sessions. Tonight’s session is also open to students and parents of any school or college in the area. It is designed to explore the options available to anyone whose results are better than or perhaps not as good as expected.
Higher National Diploma and Certificate in Music Production New College is still recruiting to its own Higher Education courses. These are the full time HND and part time HNC in Music Production which are excellent stand alone qualifications and can also lead on to a full degree qualifications. With well established links to specialist university courses and local employers, this is an excellent choice for those wanting to study locally or to move into the area. Help with applications through UCAS and opportunities to visit the college are available now.
