Girls like that performing arts production
A drama production by New College Telford's BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts students is set to go on a tour of local schools.
Girls Like That focuses on the pressures of modern society, tackling issues such as peer pressure, social media influence, and online sharing.
The students played a number of different roles in the play, which premiered at the Hayward Arts Theatre and is now set to be performed to other local Year 10-13 students.
It tells the story of a girl called Scarlett, whose reputation becomes toxic when a naked photograph of her goes viral, threatening to shatter the fragile unity of the girls she has grown up with.
And when a photograph of a male student called Russell also circulates, the question is asked: Why isn't it the same for boys?
Curriculum area leader Mandy Parker said: “The show presented a real challenge for the young performers, but they rose to this with energy and a real sense of purpose.
“They really engaged with the subject and the issues the play tackles - they recognise how important they are with young people today."
