Estate agency’s first apprentice qualifies with flying colours

A Shropshire estate agency's first apprentice has qualified and joined the firm's rentals team, with a helping hand from Telford College.

Charlotte De La Motte, 19, has been appointed as a rentals negotiator by Harwood The Estate Agent at their Broseley office.

Charlotte has completed a 12-month apprenticeship in the estate agency and said she was 'extremely keen' to be offered a permanent position.

Louise Wearmouth, Harwood rentals head co-ordinator, said: “On completing her apprenticeship, Charlotte was invited to join the rentals team and is performing extremely well.

“She is a very astute member of the team for whom nothing is ever too much for her and it is a pleasure to have her on board.”

Charlotte, who now lives in Lightmoor, Telford, spent many years in Shifnal.

She completed her year-long customer services apprenticeship through Telford College, whose apprenticeship tutors visited Harwood's Broseley office every month.

They set her a variety of tasks including writing a number of essays, and checked her work throughout their visit including the phone calls she made.

“The tutors gave me a tick list of subjects they wanted me to write on, and watched the way I did things in the office,” said Charlotte.

“The Telford College tutors were great and I looked forward to them coming to the office every month.”

Exams at the end of her apprenticeship were optional, but Charlotte chose to take them, explaining: “The important thing is I have certificates to prove I have passed my apprenticeship.”

Apprenticeships will be in the spotlight at Telford College's next open event, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on March 10, when there will also be a showcase of the latest virtual reality learning technology at the Haybridge campus.

It includes a virtual reality 'cave' which transports people to working environments around the country, plus headsets, and driving and football simulators.
