Class representatives receive training from the National Union for Students.

Dan is a development consultant for the NUS with the main aim of developing student unions in colleges and universities around the country.

Students took part in a number of interactive activities to pinpoint ways of improving the student experience.

Lucy Westwood, a childcare student, said: “The training gave me a wide variety of information and was very enjoyable.”

Ajay Saini, a Haybridge student, said: ''It was a very good first class session, very historical and educational information.”

Emily Chapman, NUS vice president for further education, also commented: “It's really exciting to have Telford College students engaging with NUS and working hard to develop learner voice across their newly-merged institution.

“There is so much positive work going on in student unions in FE colleges right now, and this is another example of a college which is putting learner voice at the heart of what they do.”

Enrichment coordinator Dan Blasczyk, added “It was great to see how enthusiastic the students were about making positive improvements at the college.

“The class reps will have a pivotal role in helping to shape the student experience. I look forward to working with Dan from NUS on ways to maximise the student voice.”
