Top Tips for a successful application to New College Telford
Places at New College Telford are limited, so to help ensure you get a place on the courses that best suit you, we recommend applying early.
Priority will be given to applicants who apply before or on Friday 27th January 2017; some late applicants will be considered after this date, depending upon circumstances.
Reply to our conditional offer to reserve you place
Offers will normally be conditional on you achieving certain GCSE results. The college will calculate the number of student places available each year, which allows us to maintain the quality of the student experience, and offers will be made accordingly.
In a change to the date previously advertised, these will now take place on the evening of Wednesday 8th February 2017 (4.30 - 7.30pm). Invites and instructions of how to register for these will be sent out closer to the time.
Focus on English and Maths
English and Maths are very important, so you must always do your best to ensure you achieve these qualifications at school. However, if you have not achieved at least a grade C in English Language and Maths by the time you join us, we will support you to achieve these.
Show commitment to the subjects you want to study
Once you've made your application to New College Telford, all students will be invited to attend an interview with us; this is a great time to show your commitment to, and interest in, the course of study. You will be asked to bring a copy of your most recent academic report to your interview.
Visual Arts Portfolio
Following an interview with a member of staff at the college, applicants for Performing Arts qualifications must take part in a taster or audition activity.
Applicants for Visual Arts qualifications must show evidence of a portfolio of work to an acceptable standard.
